May Day
May Day occurs on May 1st. This feast is held for the Sts. Philip and Jacob the Apostles. This day was a day of celebration for it was the beginning of summer. Spring flowers were woven into garlands and wreaths, these where then tied to carts, wagons, as well as worn around the heads of the single women who would dance around the Maypole which is erected in the center of the village green. This day was the most joyous and loudest festivals of the year.
