St. John the Baptist occurs on June 24th and is based on the holiday Midsummer. This feast was to mark the birth of St. John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin, who foretold Jesus' coming. The traditional color of this festival was white. Because he preached in the wilderness people decorated the outside of their houses with greenery.
