St. Nicholas' Day occurs on December 6th. The traditional feast of St. Nicholas was observed by the presentation of gifts to children, then by family functions. The feast traditionally began more than a month of celebrations, church services, and feasts surrounding the Christmas season. St Nicholas was the precursor to Santa Claus.
